Wild About Parks: Join Us at SEWE!

Each February, Charleston transforms into a wildlife wonderland as the Southeastern Wildlife Exposition (SEWE) brings together nature lovers, conservationists, and outdoor enthusiasts. This year, the Charleston Parks Conservancy is proud to partner with SEWE to highlight how Charleston’s parks support local wildlife, pollinators, and green spaces for all to enjoy. Through hands-on, family-friendly activities and interactive educational experiences, visitors can engage with nature in new ways—digging into nature-inspired crafts, exploring urban ecology, and discovering how they can become active stewards of our parks and gardens.
At our Seedling Station, children can pot up seedlings that support pollinator habitats and food access. With guided discussions, families will learn how these small plants grow to play a big role in sustaining local ecosystems.
For those with a creative side, Nature Imprints encourages visitors to explore the textures and patterns found in the natural world. Using a variety of materials—leaves, bark, seed pods, feathers, and shells—participants can create unique, nature-inspired art while learning about the plants and wildlife that thrive in Charleston’s parks.
At Pollinator Plaza, guests will have the rare opportunity to observe a live beehive up close and take part in insect identification activities, discovering the essential role pollinators play in keeping our green spaces healthy and vibrant.
We invite you to stop by and explore – come see us at Marion Square during SEWE 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Friday, February 14, to Sunday, February 16.
