Vegetable Garden Thrives in Elliotborough Community Garden

Beginning Vegetable Class puts the lecture information into action!

On February 21st, a group of curious gardeners helped plant a few vegetable plots in the Elliotborough Community Garden off Line St. It was part of the Educate You class on Beginner Vegetable Gardening. We planted transplants of lettuce, onions and spinach. Seed potatoes were also planted. Seeds of sweet pea pods and radish were also put in at this time. For many, it was their first time to see a planting go in. Generous amounts of compost, organic fertilizer applications and a fine mulching were also added to the soil as examples of ways to grow a successful vegetable.

So did it work? You bet. April 12th…….let’s see what’s growing.
