Tiedemann Park is Awash in Color
Work continued in Tiedemann Park and Nature Center last week as our Park Angel volunteers helped with weeding, planting bulbs and staking some very tall swamp sunflowers. If you haven’t seen Tiedemann Park on Elizabeth Street in downtown Charleston, be sure to stop by. The Conservancy gave this park a makeover earlier this year and it has exploded with color.
Conservancy horticulturist Kellen Goodell stakes some fast-growing swamp sunflowers. These plants won’t bloom until October, but they’ve grown so tall they need some support. To add a little more color to the garden, our volunteers painted the stakes with bright blue, yellow, red and green.
Now it’s time to add the spider lily bulbs donated by Conservancy programs director Jim Martin.
