The Conservancy Celebrates Year of the Dog

According to the Chinese Zodiac, 2018 will mark the return of the Year of the Dog (Year of the Dog). Charleston Parks Conservancy will be celebrating the year of the dog in the best way we know how — with Bark Angel events all year round!

In 2012, the Conservancy created the Bark Angel program to to allow our favorite four-legged friends the opportunity to earn their wings alongside Park Angels at Charleston Parks Conservancy community events. Pups of all sizes and varieties have participated in past Bark Angel events, including costume contests, bark (park) tours, and community socials. For this special year of the dog, the Conservancy plans to bring you and your furry friends Bark Angel events all year.

Pawdi Gras: Due to inclimate weather this event has been canceled. On February 11th dress your pet (and yourself) in your best Mardi Gras-themed costumes and enjoy pet vendors, dog demonstrations and New Orleans-inspired music and food at Pawdi Gras! Activities will include a dog agility course, pet “paw”trait drawing, and local pet adoption agencies will be on site to showcase adoptable pets. Pawdi Gras takes place on Sunday, February 11th from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM in Hampton Park.

Summer Bark Angel Event: This summer brings a new Bark Angel event in June. Join us on Friday, June 22nd.
