Strength in Numbers: Beemok makes major impact at Colonial Lake for World Gratitude Day

The Conservancy teamed up with the wonderful staff at Beemok for the second consecutive year to celebrate World Gratitude Day.
Over 75 members of the Beemok team braved the September King Tide to spend the morning with Conservancy staff at Colonial Lake on Friday, September 20, to help clear out beds along Rutledge Avenue and Beaufain Street in preparation for our upcoming revitalization project. Throughout the morning, they contributed an incredible 150 man hours of labor and cleared 20,000 square feet of debris and palm seedlings (IYKYK), filling our large dump trailer and several trucks. See the before and after images below.
“We are so excited to be here at beautiful Colonial Lake on World Gratitude Day, working with the Conservancy. This is such an incredibly special space for our community and the city of Charleston. It’s incredible to have so many team members here today, giving back and helping ensure this space stays beautiful,” Catherine Woods, Director of Communications and Special Programming at The Charleston Place.
Large corporate group partnerships like Beemok are critical to the Conservancy’s work in our parks. They provide the manpower required to complete large-scale projects in a short amount of time – all while team building, giving back to our community, and enjoying the benefits of spending time in our parks. If you are interested in scheduling a workday for your team, please contact our volunteer coordinator, Sarah Nicksa.
