Duranta erecta – Golden Dewdrop
Sprawling shrub with light green foliage and small thorns. Light blue flowers almost year-round. Likes sun but does well in shade too.
Colocasia – Elephant Ear
Great Elephant Ear with rich, purple stems and leaves. Can handle sun and shade and likes moist areas.
Viburnum obovatum ‘Mrs. Shiller’s Delight’ – Dwarf Viburnum
Semi-ever green dwarf shrub with great fall color and white blooms in Spring. Likes sun but can tolerate shade.
Dryopteris erythrosora – Autumn fern
Small fern with green and bronze foliage, shade.
Fatsia japonica – Japanese Aralia
Large tropical evergreen shrub with plamate leaves on thick stems. Shade to part sun.
Ruellia elegans – Elegant Ruellia
Rich green flowers and bright red flowers spring through fall. Likes full sun to part shade.
Ruellia brittonia – Dwarf Mexican Petunia
Dwarf evergreen mounding perennial. Rich green foliage with many blue/purple flowers. Likes full sun to part shade.
Foxtail Fern – Asparagus meyerii
Tough, evergreen shade fern. Tall, upright growth habit resembling a foxes tail. Shade.
Nephrolepsis obliterata – Kimberly Queen Fern
Great indoor and full shade fern with rich, lacy, erect green foliage.
Farfugium japonicum ‘Gigantea’ – Giant Leopard Plant
Great evergreen, hardy shade plant with large, leathery leaves. Produce numerous daisy-like flowers in winter months atop 5-6 foot tall spikes.
Acer palmatum – Japanese Maple
Great specimen shade tree. Grows 6-8 feet tall. Great fall color. Likes moist soil and mostly shade with a little filtered sun. Foliage can fry in full sun environments.
Cercis reinformis ‘Oklahoma’ – Redbud
Deciduous tree which typically grows to 12-18′ tall. Clusters of tiny pink-red flowers that bloom on branches in early Spring before the foliage emerges. Leaves open soft pink but gradually mature to a glossy rich green. Round shape, likes sun. Nice Fall color.
Itea virginica ‘Henry’s Garnet’ – Virginia Sweetspire
Semi-evergreen shrub with showy, fragrant white flowers from summer to fall. 3 to 4 feet tall, likes full sun to part shade. Garnet fall color
Cestrum nocturnum – Night Blooming Jasmine
Upright woody evergreen shrub with small yellow-green tubular flowers in summer and fall that produce small black berries. Attracts birds and likes full sun.
Callicarpa americana – American Beautyberry
Deciduous, woody shrub. Like full sun to part shade, more fruit set in full sun. Not salt tolerant. Rich magenta berries in late summer and through fall, remaining on bare stems after leaves drop. Low maintenance plant that attracts birds.
Hydrangea quercifolia ‘Alice’ – Oakleaf Hydrangea
Deeply lobed oak-like leaves with white flowers in summer. Deciduous, great fall color. Shade to part sun.
Hydrangea macrophylla ‘Endless Summer’ – Endless Summer Hydrangea
Great shade shrub with intense clusters of bloom all summer long. Color of bloom depends on acidity of soil, with rich blues the more acidic the soil is. Shade to part sun, likes moist soil.
Illicium floridanum – White Anise
Spring-blooming evergreen shrub with dense, rich, dense green foliage. White, star-shaped flowers. Likes full to partial shade.
