Racing Into Fall

We love how the fall season brings a host of outdoor events, particularly 5K races and other sporting events. Here are a few favorites, particularly some taking place in our local parks.

Sept. 24-25: CrossFit Integrity’s Garage Games Series. CrossFit athletes from the Lowcountry will be pushed to their physical limits at this event. Competition is both at the USS Yorktown and the Charleston Maritime Center.

Oct. 15: 18th annual Komen Lowcountry Race for the Cure on Daniel Island. One of area’s largest charity 5K races, this event benefits the Susan G. Komen for the Cure benefiting breast cancer research and programs. After the race, cool off at Etiwan Park where we’ve been working in the main flower bed.

Oct. 29: Eighth Louie’s Kids Yoga Marathon in Marion Square. Get ready for some serious sun salutations and some daring downward facing dogs – all for a good cause! And be sure to take a look at the flower beds – we’ve been working hard all summer to keep them looking beautiful.
Nov. 24: 34th Knights of Columbia Turkey Day Run. This event gives an up close view of the historic Charleston peninsula and landmarks, including such parks as White Point Gardens, Marion Square and Washington Square at the corner of Broad and Meeting streets.

The Post and Courier keeps a good list of races and events so check out that calendar of events.
