Municipal Golf Course Renovation
The renovation of the 18-hole course is intended to enhance the quality of playing conditions through extensive drainage projects, reshaped and expanded tee, greens, and fairway surfaces, and a tree management program that will promote the health of the course’s turf. Additional features will be reworked to ensure that the course is maintainable, aesthetically appealing, and playable for golfers of all skill levels.
With construction slated to begin in December 2019, a fundraising campaign to support part of this project’s cost is underway, with a goal of $1.5 million to match the city’s commitment made through recreation bond proceeds.
Having long been considered one of the city’s most cherished public spaces, this renovation project will help to ensure that the Municipal Golf Course will be played and enjoyed by citizens of Charleston for many years to come.
