McMahon Playground Renovation
Sitting on the corner of Mary Murray Blvd and Cleveland St, beside Hampton Park, McMahon Playground serves as a bountiful outdoor recreation space for all of Charleston. Named after Mrs. Genevieve Kanapaux McMahon. who was the supervisor and coach for the park for nearly twenty years, it is only right that this park be kept up to date and in the highest form for enjoyment by people of all ages.
The Charleston Parks Conservancy, the City of Charleston, adjoining neighborhoods, and local businesses all partnered to complete a renovation of McMahon Playground along Cleveland Street. The renovation included new playground equipment, beautiful pathways lined with new trees and plants, fencing, ground cover, bathroom upgrades, and benches. It provides a safe and fun place for children to play, shaded garden paths with benches for all ages to explore and enjoy, and a beautiful entrance into Hampton Park. Most importantly, these much-needed improvements to this neighborhood landmark will have long-lasting impacts for neighboring communities and all who use McMahon Playground!
