Pass the PB&J, it’s National Picnic Month

Picnics and parks go together like peanut butter and jelly, wine and cheese and red gingham napkins and potato salad. So, we’re excited to picnic in a park during National Picnic Month!

Here are our top three parks picks for having a picnic:
1. Washington Square Park, although in the midst of downtown Charleston, is tucked away behind Charleston City Hall so it’s convenient and peaceful. It’s the perfect place to escape for a picnic under a shady canopy.
2. Sunrise Park on James Island is our pick for a romantic sunset picnic with water views.
3. For families, Brittlepark Park has picnic tables and a playground. Plus, the scenic backdrop of the Ashley River makes for some fun family photos.

With more than 120 parks and green spaces, Charleston has a perfect picnic spot for you. Search our online directory and then pack your sandwiches.

Don’t forget to keep the park clean and dispose of your trash or carry it out with you. And when spreading your blanket on the grass, watch out for insects. The fire ants have been particularly nasty this year and, trust us, you don’t want to invite them to your picnic.
