One of the very first Conservancy parks, Vangie Rainsford Park offers an escape from the downtown buzz. It’s the perfect place to pause on a park bench and relish the tranquility of its iron fountain and flourishing gardens. Alongside its picnic-friendly grassy patches, the park boasts a rich variety of plants that bloom throughout the year.

Revamped by the Conservancy with vibrant floral gardens in 2009 and 2010, this small haven saw a significant enhancement in tree care starting in the spring of 2010. The installation of new park signage coincided with these improvements. Around 200 new plants found their home here, a testament to the dedication of Conservancy volunteers from the nearby neighborhood.

In the spring of 2024, updating was set in place for the park. This edits included new plantings that fit for the shade coverage, hedging of the bushes surrounding the fountain and green space, along with clearing of overgrown areas.

Formerly Chapel Street Fountain Park, the park was renamed Vangie Rainsford Park in 2022 to honor of the long-standing neighborhood association president. With over five decades of service, she remains a stalwart supporter of her community.
