Meet Aqua Angel Jill

Jill Conway
Job/Company: Assistant director for student services in the Honors College at the College of Charleston
Assigned Park: Cannon Park

Why did you sign up to be an Aqua Angel?

I thought it looked like a fun way to do something for the parks that I wouldn’t have to get on my hands and knees to do. I’m from New York City and parks were the only place to get out into green space much of the time.

How do you stay cool while watering in the parks?

By going after work!

Which Charleston park is your favorite and why?

They are all great, so it’s hard to say, and I can’t say I am even familiar with all of them, but I hope to be eventually. If I had to pick, I’d say Hampton Park because of its long and interesting history, the fountain and duck pond, the live oak trees and its open spaces for sports and picnics.

What’s your favorite summertime park activity or event?

Walking and biking.

Why should someone become a Park Angel and volunteer with the Conservancy?

It’s rewarding to know you had a small part in making Charleston parks so beautiful.
