Mark your calendars for these fall events! ????

With autumn in the air, we are hard at work planning for the rest of 2019. All of your favorite events are back with a new one on the way! “Getting people out and enjoying their parks is important to us,” said Megan Mills, Community Engagement Manager at the Charleston Parks Conservancy. “Once you begin to enjoy yourself in these wonderful spaces, you really feel connected to your neighbors and community. That’s why we now strive to offer more programs each season.”

This October, our final Bark Angel dog event of the year will debut with Barks and Bones! You’re invited to have a spooky good time on Friday, October 25th from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Magnolia Park and Community Garden. Enjoy Halloween activities with your favorite four-legged friends featuring‒a dog costume contest, pet parade, and special Halloween treats from pet vendors onsite. Movie Night in the Parks returns with a screening of “Monsters, Inc.” on Friday, October 11th at 6:00 PM. Join us at Tiedemann Park in downtown Charleston for a free family movie night including monster-themed games and activities from Little Palms Play Garden. City of Charleston Recreation’s Environmental Education Coordinator, Matt Olson will be giving an interactive environmental lesson for everyone to participate in. Movie Night events will continue into November and December with a screening of “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse,” on November 8th at Cool Blow Park and “A Muppets Christmas Carol,” at Lenavar Park on December 13th.

Looking for a relaxing afternoon activity with music, mimosas, and brunch? Look no further than our Sunday Brunch in Hampton Park on Sunday, October 20th at 11 AM. Enjoy live music by jazz artist Lee Barbour Trio with delicious food available for purchase from local food trucks Greeking Out, Street Bird Westside, and Roti Rolls. The event will also feature a Create Your Own Mimosa Bar sponsored by WestEdge Charleston. Advance tickets are $10 and tickets purchased day of the event are $15. Now a beloved tradition, Light the Lake returns just in time for the holidays on Friday, December 6th at 5:00 PM. Enjoy the spirit of the season with food trucks on site serving snacks and hot beverages and a DJ playing everyone’s favorite holiday music. There will also be plenty of activities for the kids, including a cookie decorating station and a snowball fight zone. More details to come!

Last, but certainly not least, the Conservancy’s annual fundraiser Party for the Parks is back at Colonial Lake on Saturday, November 2nd at 6:00 PM. This year’s theme is “Call of the Wild” where punk rock meets animal instincts. Park lovers will be decked out in animal prints, neon, mohawks, leather, and studs while enjoying food, drinks, and entertainment. Early-bird tickets and VIP tickets have already sold out with limited regular-priced tickets still available. This event sells out every year, so get your tickets today before they’re gone!
