March 2019 Park of the Month: Hazel Parker Playground

Hazel Parker Playground is one of downtown Charleston’s favorite dog parks. Located at 70 East Bay Street, Hazel Parker Playground boasts close proximity to some of Charleston’s most popular sights including Rainbow Row, White Point Garden, and The Battery.
If you take a stroll at Hazel Parker Playground during the day you might find more pets than kids enjoying this neighborhood gem. The park is a treat for owners and pets —featuring a beautiful view of the Cooper River, a playground for children, tennis courts for adults, and a fenced-in dog park for your four-legged buddies. The dog park offers ample room for dogs to run, fetch and play off-leash.
Need a break? Hazel Parker Playground offers plenty of benches, picnic tables, and shade to stay cool. The dog park also houses a water fountain and a doggy fountain for everyone to stay hydrated. Want more room for Fido to run around? Starting at 5 pm the fully-fenced grassy field area becomes open for off-leash play.
If you happen to visit Hazel Parker Playground between the end of March and mid-April be sure to check out the lush pink Peggy Martin Roses. These friendly climbing flowers cover fences are a real treat along the East Bay Street side of the park.
