Lighting Up the Parks

This time of year the parks are so festive with Christmas trees, lights and holiday markets. This week kicks off a full month of events, some of which are in our local parks. Here’s a list of some of our favorites below:

Colonial Lake Christmas Tree Lighting: 5:30 p.m. Dec. 1. We’ve been raising money for a new tree in Colonial Lake so join us to see our efforts come to “light.” Free.

Holiday Farmers Market: 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Dec. 4, 11, 18 and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Dec. 5, 12 at Marion Square. Free.

City of Charleston Tree Lighting Ceremony: 6 p.m. Dec. 4 at Marion Square. Mayor Joe Riley and Santa Claus will turn on the tree of lights in the park. Free.

Charleston Christmas Parade: 2 p.m. Dec. 5 beginning at Marion Square. Free.

Chanukah in the Square: 4-6 p.m. Dec. 5. Lighting of the first candle of the 9-foot menorah in Marion Square. Free.
