Let’s Go Geocaching

We’ve stashed some caches in local parks so get your GPS or smartphone ready for geocaching. In case you’ve missed this latest trend, it combines technology and the outdoors in a “high-tech treasure hunt.”

Using coordinates and your GPS system, you track down the hidden container of prizes and then share your experience online. Families, clubs, youth organizations and individuals are getting into geocaching – and now you can geocache in four of Charleston’s parks. Hunt for caches of Conservancy goodies in Brittlebank Park, Chapel Street Fountain Park, Simonton Park and Wragg Square.

We’ll also be hosting a special geocache hunt during the Teddy Bear Picnic on Oct. 10 in Hampton Park.

If you’re not already geocaching, check out this information on how to get started.

And be sure to let us know if you find a cache and other parks you’d like to see us add to the geocaching adventure.
