Head to the Park for Walk @ Lunch Day
We’ll take any excuse to leave our desks and go to the park…and we’re guessing you probably feel the same. So, we love National Walk @ Lunch Day.
BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina is encouraging people around the state to create healthy habits by walking for at least 30 minutes during their lunch breaks.
The Charleston event is 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 25 in Marion Square. There will be walking courses, health and fitness information, entertainment and giveaways. Check out the event on Facebook.
We all know obesity is becoming a serious problem in our country and regular physical activity is a key method for combating the many illnesses and problems that occur as a result of being overweight. Walking is easy, safe and free. It’s a great way to get started on the path to regular exercise.
With our busy lives and jam-packed schedules it’s easy to let exercise slide to the bottom of the list, so setting aside time at lunch is a great way to take a physical and a mental break. Trade your dress shoes or heels for sneakers and get outside!
We are fortunate here in Charleston to have dozens of parks with walking trails that are perfect for a brisk lunchtime walk. Search our Park Directory to locate a park close to your office.
Let us know if you participate in National Walk @ Lunch Day. You can even share a photo on our Facebook page of your walk in the park.
