Hats Off to Our Volunteers
It’s National Volunteer Week and we want to take a minute to say “Thank You” to our Park Angels and many volunteers. As a private nonprofit organization, we rely on volunteers to help us plan events, work in the parks, represent the Conservancy at community events and simply spread the word about our mission of beautifying and preserving Charleston’s many parks and green spaces.
A terrific example of how volunteers make a difference in the mission of the Conservancy will be evident this Saturday at our second annual Party for the Parks Amusement on the Avenue. This street-fair style party had an amazing launch last year and this year’s event is shaping up to be just as terrific with music, dancers, a silent and live auction and plenty of food and drink.
This event is the work of many volunteers who serve on a planning committee led by Sandra Deering. They spend hours planning this event, securing sponsors, auction items and doing all the work behind the scenes that makes this event such a success.
So this week, we recognize our Party for the Parks volunteers and their hard work. If you’re looking for a way to make a difference in the Charleston community, we welcome you to join us as a Park Angel. It’s free, it’s easy and there are many ways you can help – some of them don’t even require a shovel!
