Go Fetch!

When spring hits, we’re not the only ones ready for some sun. Our dogs are eager to hit the dog parks with Frisbees and tennis balls in hand – er, mouth.

Large dogs in particular can wreak havoc on a plastic Frisbee during an afternoon in the park. So, what are the best dog – and sturdiest – dog toys? For the fetch-loving canine, tennis balls are a must. But unless you’re a pro baseball player, your arm can wear out long before your pooch does. Try a ball launcher that allows you to toss a ball farther without wearing yourself out.

If Frisbees get your dog flying high, the Chuckit! Flying Squirrel is a good option. This canvas Frisbee comes in a variety of sizes and stands up to a good amount of wear and tear.

Also, don’t forget a collapsible bowl for water and a couple baggies for scooping up any messes your dog might leave behind.

Check out LowcountryDog.com for a list of local pet stores where you can get your park play gear.
