Flying High on Green Wings

What can you do with old magazines, newspapers, cardboard boxes, aluminum cans and plastic bottles? Make Park Angel wings, of course!

We’re hosting a “Go Green with a New Set of Wings” contest with winners selected during the Charleston Green Fair coming up Sunday in Marion Square. Use recyclable items to create a pair of wings and you just might win a prize from contest sponsor MY ECO, a reusable shopping bag system that puts four reusable bags in one compact tote.

If you need help creating your wings or just want some extra inspiration, come to our Park Angel Wing Creation Class from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 23 at the Children’s Museum of the Lowcountry, 25 Ann St. in downtown Charleston. The class is free, but please register.

Bring your recyclable items and we’ll have some to share. Then wear your wings to the Green Fair to promote the Park Angels program. Even your furry four-legged Bark Angels can participate.

Prizes will be awarded in the following categories:
– Best use of recycled materials
– Bark Angels (wings made for your pet)
– Wildest wings
– Wings with a Lowcountry flavor

For more information about the contest, e-mail Neves Richards.
