Fall Planting at Hazel Parker Playground Draws Park Angel Supporters
Within hours, blank ground was tranformed into another garden at the lower west side, Hazel Parker Playground. Hundreds of plants were placed in the space adjacent to the tennis courts, a major entry point into this popular park. A great turnout made it possible to complete the planting in record time. As with all new plantings, mushroom compost was added to amemd the sand based soil.
Dwarf palmetto, ferns, evergreen mahonia and azaleas now fill the shady spot with more planting planned for the late winter. this makes the second time this year the Conservancy’s Park Angels have installed new plantings in this park.
A big thank you to the Step Ahead team which came out in full force for the morning event.
