January Tree Giveaway

January 13 @ 8:30 am - 12:00 pm

  • The Charleston Parks Conservancy, in partnership with the PowerPlant SC initiative presented by Duke Energy, is thrilled to offer free trees to residents of the City of Charleston to plant in their yards!

    • Trees MUST be picked up on Saturday, January 13, 2024 between 8:30 am and 12:00 pm at the Conservancy Office, 720 Magnolia Rd. in West Ashley
    • Trees are in 3-gallon containers; some species are 5-8′ tall (Tulip Poplar, Black Gum, Sweet Bay Magnolia, Eastern Redbud)
    • Limit of (2) total trees per household
    • Planting instructions will be provided. Additionally, arborist will be present to answer questions and discuss proper planting techniques

    We have six native trees to choose from! You can learn more about each tree species by checking out the SC Forestry Commission’s Urban Tree Species Guide for South Carolina:

    • Eastern Redbud (Cercis canadensis)
    • White Fringetree (Chionanthus virginicus)
    • Southern Magnolia (Magnolia grandiflora)
    • Sweetbay Magnolia (Magnolia virginiana)
    • Tulip Poplar (Liriodendron tulipifera)
    • Black Tupelo (Nyssa sylvatica)
