Corrine Jones Gets Closer to a Makeover
We couldn’t be more excited about how the community has pulled together to revitalize Corrine Jones Park. After several months of planning and fundraising, new playground equipment is on its way and a celebration and fundraiser is planned for Sept. 24.
The folks living around this park in the Wagener Terrace neighborhood have been instrumental in breathing new life into Corrine Jones Park. All year they solicited donations and met their first goal of $20,000. But hey, why stop there? Neighbors are now raising more funds to add covered space and hopefully renovate the sports courts in the near future. (Read more about how it all started in this blog post.)
So come out and celebrate at A Picnic in the Park fundraiser from 4-7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24 at Corrine Jones. Just $5 for admission gets you a barbecue sandwich and drink. Plus, there will be plenty of activities for the kids, including face painting, jump castles, music and snow cones.
If you’re interested in supporting Corrine Jones Park, make a donation online or for sponsorship opportunities, contact Development Director Amy Jenkins at 843-724-5003 or ajenkins@charlestonparksconservancy.org. We’ve had some great sponsors step up to show their local park some love. Check out a list of sponsors on our Facebook page.
