Conservancy Stewards in Action
The Conservancy Stewards have been hard at work – and play!
First Holiday Float Success
We have BIG news to share… we won Best Holiday Theme in the 2025 City of Charleston Holiday Parade! 🎉
A huge thank-you to all the incredible volunteers who made the Charleston Parks Conservancy Christmas Parade float possible this year.
On Saturday, we had an amazing turnout—despite the cold and wet weather—for our first-ever Christmas Float Decorating Party and Cookie Swap. We shared plenty of laughs, great company, and of course, lots of sweet treats.
Then on Sunday, even more volunteers came out to help bring the float to life. From our dancers, to those handing out candy—you all played a part in making this win happen.
Return of Field Trips!
Twenty two Conservancy Stewards attended the return of our annual volunteer field trip. Volunteers got the opportunity to travel to John’s Island to interact with therapy horses at CATR, Charleston Area Therapeutic Riding, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing quality Equine Assisted Services to the community. Thank you to CATR for having us out and helping us learn about your program!
The next volunteer field trip will occur in the Spring.
Volunteer Impact
Over 950 dedicated volunteers spent 5,000 hours helping to weed, plant and maintain our parks in 2025. This is the equivalent of more than two full time employees + a part time employee and represents a value of $155,800.
We cannot maintain our park gardens or execute our community events and fundraisers without the incredible support of our community and our dedicated volunteers.
To set you up for success, Conservancy Stewards are offered quarterly Volunteer Information Sessions. We would love to see you at our next session on January 22 at 4 PM.
