Celebrating Parks in Charleston and Beyond

We had a great crowd at the free screening of the documentary “Olmsted and America’s Urban Park” on June 1 at Hampton Park. The Charleston Parks Conservancy and The Speedwell Foundation joined forced to present this film as part of Piccolo Spoleto. Rebecca Messner, the Olmsted film’s producer and writer, was on hand to introduce the film. Frederick Law Olmsted was an early visionary for public parks and green spaces and even played a part in the early development of Hampton Park, one of Charleston’s most popular parks. Learn more about Olmsted in our recent blog post.

And check out more photos from the film screening on our Facebook page. Thanks to Park Angel Jeni Rone of Sea Star Arts Boutique Photography for the terrific photos.
