Are you blooming with pride? Join The Perennials

Charleston Parks Conservancy’s newest annual donor society, The Perennials, is fresh-faced, high energy and makes giving fun. This burgeoning social circle has breathed new life into philanthropic giving and, in turn, is making quite the new, park-loving social scene in the Lowcountry.
A look inside Perennial perks makes it clear why people are eager to join this social circle. The key is a wide variety of fun for all to enjoy. Conservancy Board Members Darla Moore, Lee Manigault, and Charley McLendon have all opened their historic homes and gardens and invited fellow Perennials in for cocktails and conviviality. Sounds of laughter joined the smell of jasmine wafting from behind garden gates as guests enjoyed nights of fine food, music, dancing and more.
Families are getting in on the fun too. This fall, the Conservancy hosted its first Perennial Picnic in Allan Park, a gorgeous neighborhood park nestled in the heart of Hampton Park Terrace. Perennials brought their families for a day of fun in the park, including live music, an open bar, jump castle, and festive food vendors. The Perennials’ social calendar has something for everyone, whether it be a tour of Marion Square with historian Nic Butler, an inside story behind the making of Theodora Park told by David Rawle himself, or an intimate, guided walk through the gardens of Colonial Lake with lead horticulturist, Jim Martin.
While the perks of becoming a Perennial are enticing, the greatest benefits are the dozens of our city’s parks that have never looked better. The critical funds from The Perennials go directly to supporting Garden in the Parks, ensuring the continued care of our beloved parks in every season, and into free community programming like Teddy Bear Picnic at Hampton Park, Movie Night in the Park, and Family Fun Days at Moultrie Playground. Thanks to The Perennials, neighbors have met one another, friendships have been forged in our parks and our community is stronger as a result.
Join before the end of the year with a $500 donation or more to receive exclusive Perennial buzz in our quarterly Field Guide, as well as the latest information on our inaugural Perennial event – Shucked + Sauced at Hampton Park in January!
