Shanice joined the Conservancy as the Fellowship Program Manager in May 2021 to build a program where a profession in horticulture and environmentalism is encouraged and celebrated. She is a graduate of Oglethorpe University, in Atlanta, Georgia,  where she majored in International Studies and Spanish with a focus in Urban Ecology.

Soon after graduating, Shanice pursued her interest in civil service and economic development through the Peace Corps. Shortly thereafter, she joined New American Pathways where she developed the Alternative Break programs to help college students strengthen their active citizenship in refugee and immigrant communities.

She continued her journey with community engagement and food justice as the Operations Manager at Georgia Organics. An organization that champions organic agriculture, food justice, and healthy families.  At Georgia Organics, Shanice established the Anti-Racism Committee and acted as its first Chairwoman.  In recognition of her service, inclusive leadership strategies, and dedication to connecting people to their community, Shanice was awarded the 30 under 30 Young Nonprofit Leadership Award in Atlanta.

Shanice is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated., and in her free time you can find her supporting her local farmers’ markets, traveling, and experiencing all Charleston has to offer through its unique Lowcountry cuisine and inviting community.
