Sarra Sobchuk
Lead Parks Horticulturist
Sarra was born in Guatemala and adopted by a Ukrainian family at the age of one when she moved to Charleston. Growing up immersed in both Ukrainian and Charlestonian culture, she became fluent in Russian and developed a deep appreciation for diverse perspectives. A passionate traveler, she has explored destinations across Europe, including Prague, Berlin, London, Venice, Florence, Madrid, and Barcelona, but Charleston has always been home.
With a background in Commercial Graphics and Graphic Design, Sarra later found her true calling in horticulture, earning a degree from Trident Technical College. Her love for nature was nurtured by their grandmother, Polina, who instilled in her a deep appreciation for the outdoors through long walks, tree climbing, and exploring the beauty of plants.
As an artist and outdoor enthusiast, Sarra enjoys kayaking, axe throwing, creating in her art studio, cooking, and vacationing in Asheville. She is dedicated to giving back to the Charleston community, combining her artistic and horticultural passions to help enhance and preserve the city’s green spaces.
