Leslie serves as the Conservancy’s Programs Director. Her love of nature began as a child and was fostered by her grandparent’s farms and parents’ gardens. This led her along the path of study, work, and a lifelong passion for plants, parks, and people. Her degree in Horticulture from Virginia Tech formally introduced her to a life of work connecting people and plants. From Horticulture Therapy in a North Carolina correctional facility to directing a farm-based non-profit in McClellanville, SC, Leslie’s work continues to focus on the impact plants and natural spaces have on our communities. Leslie is a strong believer in the importance of building natural ecosystems and community through parks & gardens and witnesses daily how programming and volunteerism improve the well-being of individuals, families, neighborhoods, and cities. Since 2014, Leslie’s work with the Conservancy has provided her the opportunity to engage Charleston neighbors in park-based learning, natural growing methods, bringing neighbors together, and healthy living pursuits. The power of parks & plants is at the forefront of her everyday life with her family, friends, and work.
