Gilza joined the Conservancy in March 2023 after 17 years as office manager of a growing architectural firm in Norwalk, CT. She moved to South Carolina in September 2022 to enjoy warm weather, the great outdoors, and the charm of southern living.
Gilza is originally from Brazil however the U.S. has been her home for over thirty years. Prior to her career in business, she was the caretaker in residence at an Art Museum inside Waveny Park in New Canaan CT. Making her home inside a large park forged a strong connection with nature, a passion she holds close to this day.
Gilza’s background in volunteerism has been among those with special needs. This is born of her love for her brother an adult with Down Syndrome. Gilza is her brother’s primary caregiver and he shares both her home and her heart.
Holding family close, Gilza loves cooking, entertaining, gardening, and spending time with her husband and brother. Though new to Charleston she is excited to join a community centered on a balanced, healthy, and peaceful lifestyle.
