We believe that high quality parks contribute to a higher quality of life.

Our Story

Founded in 2007, the Charleston Parks Conservancy is the leading advocate and steward of Charleston’s urban and suburban parks. We believe when parks thrive, our community thrives. Since our founding, we have led the efforts to rejuvenate, redesign, expand, and maintain 20+ of the city’s parks.

Efforts to create, expand, sustain, and reinvigorate Charleston’s urban parks require a collaborative approach. We partner with the City of Charleston’s Parks Department on each one of our capital projects and coordinate the ongoing work of maintaining these stunning places. Our expert staff works alongside a growing and passionate corps of volunteers, creating opportunities for community engagement through park maintenance and community programs. The successful combination of government, nonprofit, and citizen support has created high quality parks that are wondrous, welcoming, and active places now, and for future generations.

Charleston Parks Conservancy actively shares our knowledge of lowcountry horticulture through our Community Gardens and Garden in the Parks programs. Hands on demonstrations are offered every week in many different parks and gardens, as well as on our social media channels. Participants and volunteers are encouraged to sign up online to take part in these opportunities. More information about these opportunities can be found throughout our website and on our social media platforms.

Financial support for our mission is critical as allocations from the City of Charleston make up only a small fraction of our budget. Charleston Parks Conservancy welcomes your support, whether made through this website or through your participation in one of our annual fundraising events. Donations to Charleston Parks Conservancy, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

We value and honor the relationship Charleston Parks Conservancy has with all of our stakeholders, and believe that transparency is critical to maintaining our stakeholder’s trust. Financial information, including financial statements and annual reports, is available using the link on the right side of this page.
