Sandra Deering is the owner and director of Hola Amigos, a Spanish-speaking program for 2- to 5-year-olds, which she started in 2007. She teaches the program through the City of Charleston Recreation Department and at Palmetto Montessori School. Deering previously served as a business process consultant with Accenture in Chicago and holds a bachelor's degree in Spanish and Latin American studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Active in the community, she is on the auxiliary board of the South Carolina Aquarium and the Capital Campaign Cabinet for The Gaillard Performance Hall Foundation. Deering has always loved the outdoors and planting, but has been learning the essentials of the art of gardening since becoming a Park Angel with the Charleston Parks Conservancy in 2008. She enjoys spending time in the parks playing tennis, baseball, soccer and basketball with her two young boys. She and her family live in Charleston
