Windermere Blvd. Community Garden

Starting in early summer of 2007, the Charleston Horticultural Society, the Charleston Parks Conservancy and the City of Charleston began planning for what has become one of the most talked about community gardens in Charleston.

The goal – create a thriving garden with colorful, long blooming plants in a highly visible, multiple-use space. The plant list includes selections known for repeat flowering, low water usage and minimal maintenance needs throughout the year. Irrigation and decorative barrier fencing was provided by the City of Charleston. Charleston Horticultural Society staff and volunteers working along side CPC staff provided the raw planting power needed to make the project come to life!

Planting occurred in November 2007 with Phase I and June 2008 with Phase II.  Ongoing care for this community garden comes from the local neighborhoods, Charleston Horticultural Society volunteers and the CPC/charleston Park Angels. Get involved with this community project through the Charleston Horticultural Society or contacting the Charleston Parks Conservancy.
