Walking along High Battery and looking out toward Fort Sumter brings history to life. It also gives you the opportunity to catch the cool sea breeze. The walk from Cheney Park next to the Coast Guard Station on the corner of Tradd Street and Murray Boulevard to the end of the high battery is 1.2 miles. There are several stairs up to the High Battery on East Bay Street and you should watch your step on the old slate sidewalks because they are not always even.
