One of summer’s greatest pleasures is stretching out on a blanket in the park grasses and reading a book under the shade of an oak tree. Throw in a glass of sweet tea or an iced coffee and the day is darn near perfect. Aug. 9 was Book Lovers Day so that got us thinking about some great park-inspired books to pull off the bookshelf.

And so it begins: the steamy month of August along with the promise of cooler fall days. While it’s tempting to spend the days indoors, there are plenty of activities this month around Charleston – several in or near our local parks. So, we’ve pulled a few highlights.
