You’d have to be a real scrooge not to get in the holiday spirit living in Charleston. The holiday events and activities are plentiful. And thanks to our moderate climate, we can get out and enjoy our parks and public spaces as they are decked out in their holiday finest.

The neighborhood surrounding Allan Park is on a mission to improve its local park. The community has pledged to raise $15,000 to give the park a facelift with renovated green spaces and an irrigation system upgrade.

It’s no secret biking is a big topic here in Charleston. With our narrow streets and limited number of trails, biking can at times be challenging. But there are some city parks with terrific trails to help you get your exercise on two wheels.

Anyone who has stood under her mammoth branches has to admit the Angel Oak on Johns Island is pretty spectacular. Thought to be one of the oldest living things east of the Mississippi River, the Angel Oak has grown both up and out, standing 65 feet tall with a canopy that provides 17,000 square feet of shade.

Whether you want to teach your toddler about nature or learn to catch a crab, we have a slate of new family and kid-friendly programs coming up this fall. We want to grow our park and nature lovers early and there’s no better way to instill an appreciation of the great outdoors than by spending family time learning in the parks.
