OK, listen up, ladies, September is International Women’s Friendship Month and we have some great ideas for how you can celebrate (all park- and plant-related, of course).

This summer, a dedicated group of Parks Conservancy volunteers are braving the Charleston heat and humidity to keep our parks looking great. This week read about Debbie Austin, who is watering Simonton Park.

We couldn’t be more excited about how the community has pulled together to revitalize Corrine Jones Park. After several months of planning and fundraising, new playground equipment is on its way and a celebration and fundraiser is planned for Sept. 24.

The thing about parks is that they need TLC pretty much year round. Whether it’s pulling weeds, planting, watering or mulching, it seems there’s always a job to be done. So volunteering in Charleston’s parks is a terrific project for a business, neighborhood, club, student or church group or even some friends looking to make a difference in the community.
