Where: Clemson Coastal Research and Education Center Outdoor Classroom - 2865 Savannah Highway, Charleston, SC 29414

When: Wed. Nov 10th, 2010, 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM

Residential and commercial landscapes make up a significant portion of the watershed and play an important role in preserving the quantity and quality of South Carolina's water resources. Dave Joyner, Natural Resources Agent for Clemson Extension will provide an overview of "Carolina-friendly" landscaping based on the nine principles of the Carolina Yard and Neighborhoods Program.

Topics include managing stormwater runoff with rain gardens/bioretention cells, vegetative buffers, pervious hardscapes, and rainwater harvesting; as well as resource conservation techniques through the incorporation of native and well-adapted plants, integrated pest management and high-efficiency irrigation.

This workshop is the third in a series presented to support the Green Business Challenge. For more info visit http://www.charlestongbc.com
