Garden Creativity and Common Sense- Charleston Horticultural Society Monday Night Lecture Series

Where: Charleston Museum Auditorium - 360 Meeting St.

When: Mon. Apr 12th, 2010, 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM

When creativity and common sense get lost, dull plantings and too much hardscape emerge both at commercial sites and in the home landscape.  Look, instead, to creative plant combinations that thrive in the Lowcountry climate and the work of some artists who have created benches, fountains, and floors for great South Carolina gardens.

A seventh-generation South Carolinian, Jenks Farmer grew up on a Beech Island family farm, where he operates a connoisseur’s nursery specializing in sub-tropic genus of the amaryllis family – Crinum.  He is the curator and designer for Moore Farms, 25 acres incorporating one of South Carolina's most horticulturally sophisticated private gardens.  Jenks lectures across the country and his articles have appeared in Carolina Gardener, Fine Gardening, Organic Gardening, Horticulture, American Nurseryman and several scientific journals.

Free for Charleston Horticultural Society Members; $15 for non-members.
