2010 Native Plant Symposium

Where: Magnolia Plantation & Gardens - 3550 Ashley River Road, Charleston, SC 29419

When: Fri. May 7th, 2010, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

The South Carolina Native Plant Society’s 2010 Symposium brings together a diverse group of people from across South Carolina—master gardeners & horticulturists, home gardeners, landscape architects, nursery & landscape professionals, professors and students, as well as representatives from state and local government—to learn and share best practices for sustaining biodiversity in our own backyards.

The Symposium’s Keynote Speaker, Dr. Douglas Tallamy, is the nationally-acclaimed author of Bringing Nature Home: How You Can Sustain Wildlife with Native Plants. Dr. Tallamy is Professor and Chair of the Department of Entomology and Wildlife Ecology at the University of Delaware. Dr. Tallamy's address is co-sponsored by the Charleston Parks Conservancy.

The two-day Symposium, held on the grounds of the historic Magnolia Plantation & Gardens, features lectures, field trips and panel discussions.

Symposium partners include The Nature Conservancy and Magnolia Plantation & Gardens.
