We take pictures for our website and publications at our classes.  If you prefer not to be photographed, please let us know.

  • When: Saturday, Feb 11th, 2012, 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM

    Did you know that you can register your backyard as a certified wildlife habitat? Join us in Etiwan Park to build wooden bird feeders to take home. While the kids learn about Carolina Chickadees and play torpor tag, we'll tell you how to provide all the elements for a wildlife garden that you can register with the National Wildlife Federation. Master gardener volunteers will be on hand to suggest plants for attracting butterflies and birds. Suitable for parent/child pairs (not a drop off class). Class is limited to 15 children with priority given to web registration. $12 in advance; $15 day of (checks only).

  • Valentines for the Birds

    When: Monday, Feb 13th, 2012, 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM

    Don't let Valentine's Day go to the birds! Did you know that you can register your backyard as a certified wildlife habitat? Join us in Allan Park to build wooden bird feeders to take home. We'll tell you how to provide all the elements for a wildlife garden that you can register with the National Wildlife Federation. We'll also make pine cone feeders to leave in the park's trees. Class is limited to 15 children with priority given to web registration. $12 in advance for each parent/ child pair ($12 each additional child); $15 day of (checks only).

    Join Nature Adventures Outfitters for a beautiful historic paddle among shrimp boats! We'll paddle through a saltwater marsh creek and journey out to an island preserve called Crab Bank, home to thousands of nesting shorebirds and frequented by dolphin, where we'll search for sharks' teeth. Beginners are welcome. Led by university degreed master naturalist guides and coastal kayak Instructors. Staff from the Charleston Parks Conservancy will be on hand to discuss volunteer opportunities and upcoming education programs. Adults 18 and over only. Saturday March 2, 1pm. Launch from Shem Creek, Mt Pleasant, SC. Registration closes Web. morning, Feb 29. No refunds or credits for cancellations after Feb 29.
