About:
Brittlebank Park Captain / Bark Angels
Each park’s captain will help recruit volunteers and promote the Conservancy’s work in the park. Captains will recruit volunteers for Garden the Park events and maintain volunteer/park connections. They also will act as a liaison with neighborhood groups, churches, schools and businesses to promote Garden in the Park volunteer opportunities.
Garvan owns Charleston Dog Walker and lives on James Island.
• Why did you want to be a Lead Park Angel? I love the outdoors and being in open spaces. Also enjoy learning about Lowcountry plants.
• Favorite garden, park or horticulture space? Hyde Park in Sydney.
• One thing you learned from working with the Conservancy: Time management.
• Favorite hour of the day and why: Early morning.
• Best Charleston park and why: Brittlebank Park for its sunrises, the Ashley River and the Joe!
• Favorite flower/plant: Bottle brush.
• If you could inscribe something on a park bench what would it say? Dogs are a man’s best friend.
• Why should someone become a Park Angel and volunteer for the Conservancy? Because it is fun and you get to play in all kinds of weather.
