Chapel Street Fountain Park Captain
Each park’s captain will help recruit volunteers and promote the Conservancy’s work in the park. Captains will recruit volunteers for Garden the Park events and maintain volunteer/park connections. They also will act as a liaison with neighborhood groups, churches, schools and businesses to promote Garden in the Park volunteer opportunities.
Rone is a retired actuary who lives in the Mazyck-Wraggborough Neighborhood in downtown Charleston.
• Why did you want to be a Lead Park Angel? Who wouldn’t want to work in beautiful places with great people?
• Favorite garden, park or horticulture space? Efildoog Park in New Zealand ( Good Life spelled backward).
• One thing you learned from working with the Conservancy: The value of compost!
• Favorite hour of the day and why: Any time the humidity is low.
• Best Charleston park and why: Chapel Park - it’s my neighborhood park!
• Favorite flower/plant: Hydrangeas – any and all kinds.
• Why should someone become a park angel and volunteer for the Conservancy? Get some Vitamin D while working with really nice people.
