One of summer’s greatest pleasures is stretching out on a blanket in the park grasses and reading a book under the shade of an oak tree. Throw in a glass of sweet tea or an iced coffee and the day is darn near perfect. Aug. 9 was Book Lovers Day so that got us thinking about some great park-inspired books to pull off the bookshelf.

For additional reading-in-the-park inspiration, check out the open air reading room at Bryant Park in New York City. It’s a neat concept that encourages reading in the park.
