Sometimes you just have to work with what you’re given. While we do our best to stick to the ideal conditions for our plants, sometimes we have to compromise a little based on the layout of our yards.
In this short video clip, Jim Martin explains that the ideal amount of sun for a vegetable garden is five to six hours. But in Jim’s yard, a bed of corn is getting a little less sun than it might like thanks to a towering pecan tree. The corn is growing fine despite the added shade, but it’s the perfect example of adapting to your environment.
